How to tell the Jobs assistant what you can do

A conversation with the Taaly Jobs assistant on WhatsApp takes about five minutes, and you cannot really do it wrong. These five tips do make your work profile better, so the Taaly team sees faster which work fits you.

1. Write in the language you explain best in

Send "Hallo" to +31 6 53988594 and pick the language in which you find it easiest to talk about yourself. That can be Dutch, but also Arabic, Ukrainian, Tigrinya, Farsi or another language. A profile in your own language is often more complete than one in a language you are still learning. The Taaly team reads it either way.

2. Tell about all your work, also from before

The assistant asks about your work experience. Work in the Netherlands counts, and so does work in another country. Write briefly what you did, where and for how long. For example: "cook, 3 years, in Syria" or "shop assistant, 2 years, in Ukraine". Volunteer work, work in a family business or your own shop counts too. Also mention what you are good at without a diploma, such as working with people, driving or cooking for large groups.

3. No CV? No problem

A CV is optional. If you have one, send it as a PDF, Word file or photo. Take the photo in good light so the text is readable. If you do not have one, say "no" and answer the questions one by one. Your answers are enough to build a profile.

Never send your passport or ID, and never give your BSN number. The assistant only asks whether you have a BSN and a residence permit that allows work.

4. Be honest about travel and hours

The assistant asks how far you can travel and how many hours you want to work. Be honest. A job you cannot reach, or that does not fit around caring for children or your language lessons, rarely lasts. Also say what work you do not want. That helps the Taaly team just as much as saying what you do want. Can you only start in a few months, for example because you are finishing your civic integration first? Say so. Then the Taaly team searches at the right moment.

5. Ask your questions, even halfway

Not sure what a job asks of you? Just ask, even in the middle of the conversation. For example: "what do I need to become a security guard?" or "does my diploma from home count?" The assistant explains the rules, diplomas and first steps, with links to the official organizations. For a foreign diploma, for instance, you can request a diploma evaluation through IDW, explains NederlandWereldwijd.

Then the conversation continues where you were. If you need to go, just stop. When you write again, the assistant carries on. Want to change an answer? Ask.

After the conversation

At the end, the assistant shows your profile. Read it calmly, correct what is wrong and confirm. Then a member of the Taaly team reads your profile and contacts you on WhatsApp or by phone about vacancies that fit. Nothing goes to an employer without your consent. We cannot promise a job, but we do promise a real person who thinks along with you.

Do you have the Taaly app? Then you can also browse vacancies yourself in Taaly Jobs, the closest first. Also read your first application in the app.
