Volunteer organisation UVV Rotterdam announced a partnership with Taaly. Rotterdam residents can sign up through UVV as a taalcoach and video call from home with newcomers learning Dutch.

How it works for volunteers

UVV Rotterdam recruits volunteers who create a profile in the Taaly app, get matched with a learner and agree together how often and when they practise. A video call takes 30 to 60 minutes on average. Everyone who wants to learn Dutch is welcome: status holders, expats, labour migrants and international students.

Local volunteering, national platform

The partnership shows how Taaly strengthens local volunteer organisations: UVV knows the people of Rotterdam, Taaly takes care of matching, scheduling and safe video calls. UVV also published a volunteer role, ‘Volunteer video-calling language buddy Taaly’.
